Halle-isms

I am going to try to do a weekly post of the things Halle is saying and doing lately.  My mom keeps telling me I could write a book with the things this child says.  She is too smart for her own good sometimes!

***********************************

Halle:  Mommy, you are not my friend anymore.
Me:  Why not?
Halle:  Because you are not listening to me!

***********************************

Mommy, Chevy's throwed come up - she was trying to tell me that Chevy threw up.

***********************************

Halle's lastest phrases are "let me tell you something/I need to tell you something" and  "are you listening to me?"

M&M's

Halle's favorite candy (not that she gets a lot of it) is M&M's.  The funny thing is she will not eat her M&M's until all of the m's are facing up and then she eats them one color at a time.  OCD?  I prefer to think that she is going to be extrememly organized one day.

4 months

I can't believe that my baby boy is already 4 months old.  He had his well-baby checkup today and was 16 lbs. even and 25 inches...such a big boy!  We are going to try some rice cereal tonight.  I'll have to post later about how that goes....

He can sit unassisted for about 5 seconds.  He will be so happy once he can do this on his own.  He loves sitting up.

He fell over right after I snapped this one.

Changes...

Earlier this week I looked out my window and saw this...

I have a new neighbor...A sweet little bird buiding a nest in my birdhouse that hangs on the back patio.  I was super-excited to see this...this house has hung empty for about 3 years and now some cute little birdies have decided to take up residence.  They picked  my yard as the perfect place to lay their eggs and hatch their young.  It is definitely starting to look like spring.

All of this made me reflect on where I was this week last spring.  I had just been told that I would not have a job the following school year at the school where I was teaching.  I was upset, but I knew that it meant there was something better out there for me.  The day after I got that news, I found out that my little family of three was going to become a family of four.  One year ago this week, I found out that BabyCole was on his way.  This news somehow made the news of not having a job not seem that important anymore.  I know that sounds crazy, but I guess something inside of me knew that this chain of events would lead me to where I am now...A happy stay at home mommy. Don't get me wrong, I love teaching and miss the kiddos at school like crazy, but this is a time in my childrens' lives that I cannot get back and my place is at home with them.  I wouldn't change a thing about the situation.  Had I not been laid off, I would not have had the opportunity to stay home.

And now here we are, one year after those 2 life-changing events and I am happier than ever!  I have a beautiful 3 year old daughter that is so energetic and loves the fact that mommy is home to play and color with her all day, and I won't have to miss any of my handsome 3 1/2 month old son's small milestones.  I love life!

The mind of a 3 year old...

I have been meaning to come and post some of the funny things Halle says so I won't forget them. Here are a few:

When decorating the Christmas trees this year: Mommy, that tree looks familiar!

While watching me bathe baby Cole:
Halle: Mommy! He has poop!
Me: No he doesn't.
Halle: Yes he does, right there. (pointing to his penis)
Me: (trying not to laugh too hard) No baby, that is what boys look like down there. They are different from girls.
Halle: OK

This one happened a while back but still funny!
Me: Halle, are you hungry?
Halle: Nah, I ate yesterday.

This one isn't something she said, but something odd she did last night. Cory was laying on the couch and Halle had fallen asleep laying with him and Chevy was laying on the opposite end of the couch. All of a sudden Halle gets up and goes open the back door. I guess she thought Chevy needed to go outside, but he wasn't even standing at the door. The funny thing is, when she opened the door, Chevy woke up, jumped off the couch and went outside. I guess they were communicating in their sleep.

That is all I can think of right now, I'll post more as they come to me!
